Psychiatrist David A Gross MD

He is a Yale trained psychiatrist actively involved in the private practice of adult, adolescent and geriatric psychiatry in Delray Beach, Florida. As a physician first, he identifies his clinical approach as medical psychiatry. This philosophy embodies a systems model that takes into account the whole patient. Specifically, the biological, psychological and social factors that pertain to the patient. In this regard, input from concerned family and/or friends can be invaluable and Dr. Gross tries to involve significant others if possible.

Dr Gross has been elected Castle Connolly’s best doctors annually since 1998 to the present.

In 2013, Dr. Gross received recognition from his peers via multiple awards and presented a Notable Alumnus Speech at the University of Florida College of Medicine reunion. The title of his speech was "At The Edge Of Catastrophe" and you can view his slideshow or video below.

Practice Information

What are the goals of the initial consultation appointment? It is Dr. Gross firm belief that every individual is entitled to a clear understanding of the nature of the problem(s) that they present at the time of the consultation. If possible, the diagnosis or diagnoses will be discussed and a treatment plan will be formulated. At times, specialized testing may be indicated to aid in formulating the diagnosis. Testing may include extensive blood tests, psychological testing, brain imaging, and electroencephalography.

The diagnostic formulation enables the development of a treatment plan. Effective treatment often requires the involvement of pharmacotherapy (medication) and psychotherapy. Dr. Gross is pleased to be affiliated with a number of skilled therapists providing a coordinated team approach.

Any successful medical practice is dependent on an efficient office. Dr. Gross has a full complement of office staff and is proud of the service that is provided. Phone calls are returned promptly and administrative responsibilities handled expeditiously. While he does not participate as a provider for insurance companies or Medicare, a master receipt is provided at the time of service that can be submitted to insurance companies. Dr. Gross is committed to cost effective treatment and conducts his practice accordingly. He schedules a follow-up appointment generally one to two weeks following the initial consultation, the third appointment six weeks later and if treatment proceeds as planned, ongoing care appointment are every three to four months thereafter. After hours phone calls connect to an automated state of the art answering system that allows for emergency paging by dialing 112 following the message.
